We serve 3 different cask beers:

1 > Buntingford Brewery Co (from Therfield Heath, nr Royston) - beer on sale rotates through their range

2 > Nethergate Brewery (nr Clare, Suffolk) -

3 > A constantly changing beer from one of the hundreds of small breweries across the country.

We often have a dark beer on offer, such as a porter or mild, and of course are happy to help you in your choice, and offer small tasters.

On the lager front, we offer two imported beers - Amstel (Dutch), and Bitburger (German).  For the cider drinker we serve Aspalls, a cider producer from Suffolk, both on draught and in bottles.  Alternatively there is always Guinness if that is your tipple, and a standard range of bottled beers are also available.

The dispense system we use for our cask beers attracts a lot of interest, even from non-beer drinkers, so here is a short overview of how it works:

The system allows us to keep the beer in the cellar (thus keeping a control on serving temperature), and uses special gentle pumps serve the beer to the wooden barrels behind the bar.  These pumps are very similar to ones used in dialysis machines, and whilst not uncommon in pubs, are rarely used to such good effect.  The real importance here though is that the beer is not agitated - as it is by modern hand pumps - but served just as though it was dispensed direct from the cask.
